A group of ten sentenced of online harassment against Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has convicted ten people for engaging in the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced charges of circulating false claims regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to making malicious remarks about the pair's significant age difference.
The court handed down conditional custodial sentences of up to eight months to the defendants. The complete verdict has not yet been published.
A longstanding false narrative claiming that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has spread widely since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons initiating a legal action for defamation in the United States of America against political commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced comparable unfounded claims about the Brigitte Macron's identity.
Their complaint contends that Owens disregarded any factual proof contradicting her allegations in favour of amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has often echoed these claims on her show and online platforms, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her conviction that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her future husband when she taught at his lycée.
The pair entered into matrimony in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
